Concept
Taketomi Town is an island town consisting of nine inhabited islands including Iriomote Island, which is registered as a World Natural Heritage site, and the surrounding uninhabited islands. The warm and humid subtropical climate preserves the original landscape of Okinawa with white sand roads, fieldstone walls, red-tiled roofs, and colorful flowers against the blue gradation of the sky and sea. Since there are few shipping routes that interconnect each island starting from Ishigaki Island, the town office is located in Ishigaki City outside the town. The counter, which is often used by town residents, is concentrated on the first floor, and it also has a simple lodging facility that can be used for hospital visits and participation in sporting events in Ishigaki City, as well as a store selling local products of the island. As a disaster prevention center, the building is "ZEB ready" through load reduction, use of natural energy, and high-efficiency equipment systems, while ensuring that the government building will function in the event of a disaster.
