Concept

The Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake taught us the importance of community and helping each other out. As a disaster restoration housing, we made sure of the earthquake resistance and safety of the building, and designed a place open and supportive to the community. For the 36 rooms for the elderly, we set an emergency notification system, assembly room, LSA room, boardwalk, and a network with the existent housings, schools and parks to support the residents’ lives and allow them to move around easily. We brought the community brightness and friendliness with a design that captures sunlight and abstractly portrays water.
