Osaka Prefectural Ichiritsu Senior High School, Seminar House

Concept

In the east of Kozenji station of Keihan railway, Osaka Municipal Senior High School is on a small hill with a bamboo thicket remained around it. In compliance with a demand of a seminar house that has warmth of wood, wood is used for interior materials and even on the surface of exposed concrete, slash grain frames are chosen for the best effect. Thus nature of materials of trees are fully expressed. With a training room which is also used as a dining in a two-story void space as its core, wooden structure is built on exposed concrete base where a pilotis, a kitchen and a laundry are placed. Trees represented by wild cherry trees as symbol of the facility are planted sequentially in the high school area and surround the building as if a forest has revived.
