Concept
The Kyushu University Museum on the former Hakozaki Campus of Kyushu University houses approximately 1,450,000 academic specimens and materials in a variety of fields. The Fujii Gallery was developed as a place to exhibit these valuable materials on Kyushu University's Ito New Campus, and as part of the university museum's function to support intellectual activities and exchanges. The design concept of the building is based on the motif of "bird's wings," which was inspired by the logo of the museum, and is connected to the desire of university staff and alumni that Kyushu University students will have ambitions and spread their wings even further. The gallery is located at the entrance to the Ito New Campus and also serves to create an attractive flow of people by connecting the auditorium and library, which are the main facilities of the university.
