Concept

A facility with lecture rooms and educational and research facilities for new faculties to be developed in the center of the engineering district of the Ito New Campus following the relocation of Kyushu University. With lecture rooms that can accommodate large conferences, it is expected to become the face of the engineering district. In order to create a connection with the surrounding pedestrian routes and surrounding green areas, the lecture rooms are arranged around a courtyard that can be accessed from any direction, and the plan is designed to allow users to interact with each other. Following the design manual of Kyushu University, a portion of the exterior walls are tiled to match the surrounding buildings, giving the building a sense of "history" and "tradition. On the other hand, the corridors and staircases located around the perimeter are covered with glass to reveal the users' activities to the outside and to emphasize the impression of the facility as a center of the engineering district.
