Concept
Considering the aging facility and future increase in the number of students, the building was relocated and reconstructed on the grounds of the police academy. While being conscious of the prestige and dignity of a police facility, the exterior of the welfare building was designed to reflect the regional characteristics of Shinshu, and the interior space using wood expressed warmth, as it is a space where people can relax for a moment. A sloped roof was adopted in consideration of snow accumulation, and the entrance to the building was limited to prevent snow from falling, thus preventing accidents during snowfall. The cafeteria is a pillarless space that provides a sense of openness and allows students to feel a sense of unity. The pillarless space can be used not only for the cafeteria but also for other events, and can also be used as a temporary first aid area in the event of a disaster. In the bathrooms, men's and women's spaces are set apart on the left and right sides of the facility to create a distance between them, allowing each to relax and feel at ease. Since time is limited for bathing, we simplified the layout of the changing rooms, washing areas, and bathtubs to create a flow line plan that does not waste time.
