Concept
Inheriting the history and spirit of a long-loved elementary school, the building was expanded to create a learning environment that makes it seem as if it has always existed with other buildings, and classrooms are not completely separated from each other, but rather are composed in response to each other. The building is designed to provide heat shielding and ventilation for the hot and humid subtropical climate, and to create a comfortable interior space with an intermediate area like a rain edge. The roof is externally insulated to reduce the heat load on the building frame, and greenery is planted to protect the frame and prevent temperature rises through shade created by plants. The plan also takes advantage of the power of nature, such as the transpiration effect of the plants to lower the temperature of the wind.
