Azabu Tax Office

Concept

This is an expansion plan for an existing government building in the Nishiazabu district adjacent to Roppongi Hills to solve the narrowness of the building. The two-story steel-framed building was designed to emphasize horizontal and vertical lines with crossed H columns and H-shaped steel beams, and to express fairness and dignity with a monotone color scheme. The first floor is a conference room that can be used as a temporary counter during the tax filing period, and a multi-purpose toilet is located facing the entrance hall. The second floor is a fireproof storeroom accessible by a small baggage elevator. The rooftop of the flat roof is greened, not only to reduce the heat load but also to provide a green space for relaxation to the adjacent existing government building.
