In conjunction with the seismic retrofitting of the current Fukuoka Transport Branch Office, a space for comfortable use by visitors was extended, and a new external storeroom was built to solve the shortage of document storage space. Since the construction work will be carried out while the building is in use, it was planned with consideration for the safety of users during the construction period. The extension clarifies the space for filling out documents and the waiting area, making the interior space easy to understand and relaxing for first-time users. High sidelights were installed above the extension to ensure stable lighting from the north side, thereby reducing the environmental impact. In order to harmonize with the existing government building, which has a distinctive roof line, the height of the extension was kept low while securing the necessary ceiling height. On the other hand, to make the entrance of the building easily recognizable, we intentionally adopted a different color scheme from that of the existing government building to create an exterior that accentuates each other's features.
