Concept
This facility is planned to be relocated to a site adjacent to Fukuoka Airport, close to the city center of Fukuoka City, as a facility for training police dogs of the Fukuoka Prefectural Police.
To make effective use of the triangular site, the building is arranged in an L-shape to provide a large outdoor training space and to block noise and odors from the neighborhood. In addition, since the building is L-shaped, the living area for police dogs (kennel building) and the administrative section (office building) are structurally separated by expansion joints to avoid the risk of torsion during earthquakes. The kennel building has a single-sloped sloping roof with low eaves on the street side, and the volume of the building is divided by a series of tall and low windows for natural lighting and ventilation to reduce the feeling of oppression against the surrounding environment. As part of the environmental plan, we aim to contribute to the reduction of environmental impact by reducing the heat load through rooftop greening and by using natural energy sources such as solar power generation.
