Concept

This project was a reconstruction of the former public prosecutors' office building to improve its narrowness, dilapidation, and functionality. The exterior of the building was designed with careful attention to the position and size of windows, etc., as the use of the facility requires a high level of privacy and security. Although the site is located far from the old central city center, it faces an old national highway, so we adopted the design motif of traditional machiya houses in Echizen City, and adopted ribbed extrusion molded cement board as the exterior material, which evokes the image of a vertical wooden latticework. The color scheme is based on ancient beauty colors, which create a calm atmosphere. In accordance with the "Law Concerning the Promotion of the Use of Wood in Public Buildings, etc.," wood is widely used for the interior of common areas.
