Zamami Village Office New Government Building

Concept

A new government building was completed in Zamami Village, a designated national park with rich and beautiful nature, using the lease-back method. To harmonize with the expressive climate of Zamami Village and blend in with the landscape, materials such as red tiles, Ryukyu limestone, flower blocks, and glass blocks, which are elements of the Okinawan landscape and are considered economical and durable, were adopted. The color scheme is based on coral-white to enhance the natural environment of blue sky and deep greenery. The plan also incorporates the traditional Okinawan spatial configuration of indoor and outdoor spaces as a place for conversation, with natural lighting and natural ventilation inside and out, a rain edge with a beautiful contrast between red tiles and Ryukyu limestone, a column-free office space, and an atrium that connects the upper and lower floors, creating a sense of openness and depth.
