Concept

Shiga-cho is located in the west of Lake Biwa. The site is in the Japanese traditional village. Because of such a location and the nature of this facility as a complex of a day service center and a community center, this new facility may not disturb the calmness of the village. Therefore, buildings are divided into three pieces in order to meet the scale of domestic residential houses. The three buildings are characterized by Japanese roofing tiles same as the surrounding houses and plaster colored in white, red, and gray which shows function of each building. It is built to harmonize in the scene as if it had been there for a long time, so that senior citizens could feel comfortable.
